Phylogeny: The Gemmelli Razor Clam, Solen gemmelli (Cosel, 1992) is a bivalve member of the Solenidae Family of Jacknife Clams. The genus Solen is one of three genera in this family, and there are sixty-six species in this genus.
Very shiny, thin shelled, almost translucent bivalve. Left valve represented here.
The commarginal growth lines appear pinkish ( 4 or 5 on this shell) Family characterized by having one cardinal tooth per valve. Seen here adjacent to the umbones ( appears as a white spot) I can try to get a closeup of the end and the tooth if you think it will add anything.
